How to manually assemble and disassemble a piston on a P-DAC cell for high-pressure experiments?

To manually assemble and disassemble the piston on a P-DAC cell without using the two extraction screws, and to access the internal seal, follow the steps below.

Disassembly

  • Gently push the piston into the cell, applying even pressure on the center — do not touch the seat.
  • Slowly and carefully pull the piston out of the cell.
  • Continue pulling until the piston is completely removed.

Accessing the internal seal

  • Once the piston is removed, inspect the cell’s internal cavity.
  • Locate the internal seals and use the appropriate plastic tool-driver to remove them.
  • Once removed, the seal can be cleaned, replaced or repaired as needed.

Assembly

  • Locate the pin on the side of the cell near the piston.
  • Insert and push until the piston is fully inserted into the cell.
  • Ensure the piston is seated properly and securely within the cell.

Remember to exercise caution and work in a controlled environment when handling P-DAC cells and pistons. If you have specific concerns about your particular P-DAC model, refer to the manufacturer’s instructions or consult a professional.

How to activate my BETSA® software license?

During the first launch, the software is blocked in demo mode and can only operate after registration of the license key from BETSA®.

Create the data file

Launch the executable “license.exe” provided by BETSA®. A file named “data.lic” is created in the same location as the executable.

Register with BETSA®

Copy the “data.lic” file and send it to BETSA® at contact@betsa.fr, along with the name of the referring user and the name and/or computer number on which the software is installed.

Activate the software

BETSA® generates a specific activation key and returns a “license.lic” file that must be copied to the root of the software. For example, if the software is installed in C:\Program Files (x86)\BETSA Application PRL, copy the “license.lic” file returned by BETSA® and replace the existing one in the “BETSA Application PRL” folder.

How to replace seals on a BETSA® microvalve?

Disassembly

Remove the central screw [VPFM] and the nut. Then take out the metal seal [092403] and, finally, the plastic seal [JMV]. Small pliers can be used for this. Before fitting new components, make sure the inside of the micro-valve is clean. Solvents can be used for degreasing and cleaning; take care not to leave any fabric or cotton fibers during the process.

Reassembly (reverse order)

Start by replacing the plastic seal, ensuring it is properly inserted into its cavity. Use small pliers to press it down gently, taking care not to damage it. Place the metal seal on top, making sure it is completely clean and free from dust on both surfaces. Slide the nut over it using pliers to secure the upper nut while maintaining internal flexibility for sealing. Avoid excessive force when tightening the upper nut, as it could jam the entire micro-valve. Finally, reattach the locking nut from the top. Both contacting surfaces are fully polished, ensuring a firm, secure seal of up to 200 bars.
